Emmy Predictions 2014: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

It’s time to analyze the funny men.

But really can there ever be anyone funnier than Mr. Furley? I think not!

But really can there ever be anyone funnier than Mr. Furley? I think not!

The nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series:

  • Ricky Gervais as Derek, Derek
  • Matt LeBlanc as Matt LeBlanc, Episodes
  • Don Cheadle as Marty Kaan, House of Lies
  • Louis C.K. as Louie, Louie
  • William H. Macy as Drank Gallagher, Shameless
  • Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper, The Big Bang Theory

Let’s be f—ing honest. This is one weird category. Of the six actors nominated, almost no one talks about four of the shows. I’ve rarely heard ANYONE even mention DerekEpisodes, House of Lies, or Shameless. And even Louie, which I love more than anything, is a stretch for comedy this year–the season played out more like a drama. It’s interesting to compare this to the Outstanding Lead Actress category where the ladies are tripping over each other with talent.

That said, Jim Parsons has won this award way too many f—ing times. Sadly, I see him it taking it home again because his show is pretty much the only one people watch.

The verdict:

Who I Want to Win: Louis C.K.

Who Will Win: Jim F—ing Parsons. Blah.
